Eric Brunning is a Vancouver-based tattoo artist working out of Super Cat Tattoo in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood and he’s known for his dramatic illustrative style, which he describes as focused on “light sources… playing with colour and light, trying to make things super dramatic”.
A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design’s illustration program, Brunning honed his craft through a traditional apprenticeship under the late Jimmy Collier at Lotus Land Tattoo before landing at Black Rider Tattoo in 2016 (since closed) —a shop he has publicly stated is “my vibe, and these are my people”.
His portfolio features dark, moody compositions that fuse black-and-grey with bold and vibrant colours, themes of surrealism, the macabre and horror with sci-fi and fantasy.
